Dialogue, compromise to eliminate security risks

First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic announced today in Bratislava that only through compromise, flexibility and willingness to take into account the interests of others, can sustainable solutions be found to problems in the OSCE region.

Dacic said at the 26th OSCE Ministerial Council in Bratislava that, despite his tireless efforts to engage the participating countries in an essential dialogue that would lead to the strengthening of that organisation and its more effective functioning, and thus increase security in the OSCE region, this goal is still far.

A good start to finding a way out of this complicated situation would be for participating states to accept that it is not necessary for everyone to have the same views on existing problems and challenges, but they must respect diversity, show openness to engage in good faith in dialogue and seek compromise in eliminating or at least reducing security risks, Dacic said.

He said that the Western Balkan countries are deeply disappointed not only by the slowdown, but by the stalled EU enlargement process, which sends a bad message to the countries of the region and favours the strengthening of radicalism as well as the strengthening of unilateralism in solving common problems.
