The Ministry of Culture and the Media announced that it had received a letter from Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, in which he expresses his assurances that the Holy See will do everything to avoid any tensions that could harm the rich Christian tradition in the Balkans.

This letter is a response to a letter sent by Minister of Culture and the Media Vladan Vukosavljevic on 9 August this year to Cardinal Ravasi regarding the holding of a Roman Catholic Mass on the remains of an Orthodox temple in Novo Brdo.
Cardinal Ravasi also said in his letter that the Holy See will do everything to avoid any tensions that could harm the religious freedoms necessary for peaceful coexistence.
The Ministry of Culture and the Media is pleased with the fair and well-intentioned views expressed in Cardinal Ravasi's response, and also expresses hope that the future cooperation between Serbia and the Vatican in the field of culture will remain at a high level.
