First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic met today with Chairperson of the EU Military Committee Claudio Graziano.
Dacic emphasised that Serbia has a high degree of cooperation with the EU Member States and institutions within the Common Security and Defence Policy, actively participating as an EU candidate country in the concepts of this policy, reaffirming its strategic commitment to EU membership.
He pointed out that, by enhancing its operational capacities, the Republic of Serbia is ready for further intensification of cooperation within the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union in the mutual interest.
Speaking about the challenges of European security, Dacic said that the situation in Kosovo-Metohija is a major political and security challenge for Serbia and that Belgrade is determined to engage in a dialogue with Pristina in order to reach a compromise solution that can only ensure long-term stability.
Emphasising the importance of his visit to Serbia, Graziano very positively assessed the continued contribution of the Serbian Armed Forces to the EU's multinational operations, emphasising the high level of training and professionalism of its members.
The Chairperson of the EU Military Committee stressed his readiness to intensify cooperation further and underlined the importance of aligning the strategic documents of the Republic of Serbia in the field of defense and security with the EU Global Strategy in the field of security and defence.
