Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar said that a draft bill on citizens associations, drawn by the Ministry in cooperation with NGOs, aims to order these associations according to international conventions and European standards.

In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Loncar recalled that Serbia has never had such a law. Until now, these matters were regulated by the Law on Citizens Associations and Political Organisations, adopted in the 1970s at the federal level.
Loncar announced that representatives of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Council of Europe, and all interested NGOs will be able to state their proposals and suggestions concerning the bill at a round table scheduled for autumn.
According to him, the relevant ministry and representatives of these organisations reached an agreement on the bill late last year.
