First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Air Marshal Stuart Peach.
At the meeting, which was also attended by Serbian Army Chief of Staff General Milan Mojsilovic, it was stressed that Serbia and NATO share an interest in maintaining peace and stability in the region, as well as a commitment to further enhance partnership cooperation and build mutual trust in all areas of common interest.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of political dialogue at the highest and other levels, as well as practical cooperation in a number of areas within the Partnership for Peace programme.
They highlighted the importance of completing the procedure soon for adopting a new cycle of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) between Serbia and NATO.
The First Deputy Prime Minister noted that Serbia, by pursuing a policy of military neutrality, strives to be a reliable and responsible partner in maintaining peace and security in the region, as a basic condition for the progress of the region as a whole.
During the talks, Serbia's active participation and contribution in the areas of counter-terrorism, emergency response in the event of natural and other disasters, as well as facing current regional and global security challenges and threats were positively assessed.
Referring to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija as the most important political and security challenge for our country, Dacic said that it is of the utmost importance that the mandate of KFOR be fully implemented, in accordance with UNSCR 1244 and the Military-Technical Agreement.
Peach expressed satisfaction with the level of partnership between Serbia and NATO, and highlighted determination and readiness for its further improvement.
