Upward trend of bilateral relations between Serbia, United States

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic announced today that Serbia wants to improve relations with the United States, based on a rich common history and strategic commitment to establishing our region as a stable region in terms of security and the economy and a territory of the united European community of states which is established on democracy.

Dacic said in a speech at the international scientific conference "Serbia-United States relations" that in the historical sense, our states and peoples were linked by the alliance in the two world wars, as well as by relatively close cooperation in the Cold War era.

However, he said, the last three decades in our relations have been a difficult period, but also a reminder that precisely because of the challenges we face, it is necessary to strive for constant dialogue and better cooperation, based on the identification of topics of mutual interest.

Today's relations with the United States are characterised by a positive dynamic, and in order to continue the upward trend in bilateral relations, we are demonstrating a continued interest in maintaining a regular high-level political dialogue with US officials, Dacic emphasised.

He also said that through its activities, the Republic of Serbia wants to confirm itself as an active and reliable partner and as a carrier of regional stability.
