Speaking at a joint news conference with Polanco, Dacic also recalled that Guatemala voted against Kosovo's admission to UNESCO and INTERPOL.
Serbia considers Guatemala a true friend. Relations between our two countries are characterised by a very high level of mutual understanding, appreciation and support in the most important issues for our two peoples, Dacic said.
Dacic and Polanco signed two memoranda, one on the establishment of political consultation mechanisms and the other on cooperation between diplomatic academies of the two countries.
The First Deputy Prime Minister said that Serbia is interested in furthering bilateral relations with Guatemala, adding that the memoranda were signed to that end.
Economic exchange is relatively low in terms of opportunities, but cooperation can also be achieved in military education and industry, Dacic said, recalling that a few months ago, one street in Guatemala was given the name of Serbian Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric and that as of today one Belgrade street bears the name of Guatemalan Nobel Laureate Miguel Angel Asturias.
He stressed that relations between the two countries will remain firm in the future, as they are linked by similar problems because of the double standards imposed on Serbia and Guatemala by the international community.
Polanco highlighted the importance of abolishing visas between Serbia and Guatemala and expressed her belief that this could awaken trade and tourism potential, but also open the space for the two nations to become more familiar with each other.
