African swine fever was confirmed at three points in three villages in the vicinity of Mladenovac.
The Belgrade Veterinary Science Institute identified a focal point in the village of Rabrovac, and on this basis, 15 days ago, when suspicion arose, all further steps and preventive measures were taken to prevent the spread of the infection.
Euthanasia of pigs has been carried out in places where the presence of the virus has been confirmed and the state has compensated the damage to the owners, which will continue to do so in case of possible spread of the infection.
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic today signed an order introducing the principle of regionalisation in Serbia, which means that only the areas that are infected do not have trade in pigs and pig meat, and all other areas where there are no viruses are free for trade.
After the monitoring, which will last for about 40 days, Serbia will be able to export to the EU and other countries without interruption, in accordance with the instructions of the World Organisation for Animal Health, the statement said.
