First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said today that Serbia is a strong advocate of improving the rights of persons with disabilities and a reliable partner of the international community in promoting and developing the protection of the rights of this category of persons.
In his speech at a gathering marking the 10th anniversary of the entry into force of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Dacic recalled that Serbia is a traditional co-sponsor of the resolutions of the Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly on the rights of persons with disabilities, on which the consensus of the international community prevails.
This is a confirmation of the shared responsibility and understanding which countries around the world attach to the treatment of this issue and an example of good cooperation in the United Nations.
The aim of the Convention is to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for all persons with disabilities.
