Preserving peace, stability in focus of foreign policy of Serbia

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said today that Serbia, respecting its past and with a great sense of responsibility towards the future, puts the preservation of peace and stability at the centre of its foreign policy.

On the occasion of the celebration of the Serbian Diplomacy Day, Dacic expressed his conviction that acting in favour of peace and stability enables the economic development and progress of our country, as well as the well-being of all our citizens.

As he pointed out, the Republic of Serbia is continuing its European path as an external policy priority, in order to integrate formally and substantially more firmly into the family of European peoples, where it has always belonged.

He added that we are committed to achieving full membership in the European Union, expecting that the process of enlargement enters a new phase, where the Republic of Serbia, as a proven stable and responsible partner, will contribute to the Union becoming stronger.

We sincerely believe that one of the fundamental values of the European Union as the largest peace project in the history is the diversity and wealth of its member states, which will be completed by the entry of the Republic of Serbia. Our country is open to the changes we are eagerly anticipating, but we do not intend to lose our values. These values have always been European, with certain characteristics that are immanent to the Serbian national being, Dacic underlined.
