Expressing satisfaction with this first ministerial meeting in the past 20 years, the ministers concluded that there are multistage and traditionally friendly relations between Serbia and Sri Lanka.
They agreed that cooperation needs to be accelerated and enriched by the intensification of bilateral political dialogue, including high-level visits, as well as concrete forms of cooperation in other areas, for which there is plenty of space and mutual readiness.
Dacic and Marapana also discussed the issue of visas and the possibilities for mutual abolition of visas.
Also, it was agreed to hold political consultations in Belgrade.
Dacic thanked Sri Lanka for its non-recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo, with the expectation that Sri Lanka will retain this position in the future.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka repeated yesterday’s statement of Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe in his meeting with Dacic that the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo is viewed as separatism that is completely unacceptable.
Earlier today, Dacic and Minister of Transport of Sri Lanka Nimal Siripala de Silva signed the Air Transport Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and Sri Lanka, which will significantly contribute to the better integration of the two countries and nations, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
