Serbia’s efforts in dealing with migrant crisis praised

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic spoke today with Director of the UNHCR Regional Bureau for Europe Pascale Moreau about the successful coping with migration in the region in the past period.

The two officials praised the years-long successful cooperation between Serbia and UNHCR in the care of refugees and internally displaced persons in our country, especially in the implementation of the Regional Housing Programme, which is now in full swing.
They also praised Serbia's efforts in facing this great challenge, with full respect for all rights of the migrant population.
Regarding the issue of internally displaced persons from Kosovo-Metohija, Dacic and Moreau pointed to the necessity of facilitating sustainable return to the southern Serbian province for all those who want to do so, and highlighted the devastating fact that in the past two decades only 1.9% of all internally displaced persons have come back.
