Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said today that the Zezelj Bridge in Novi Sad is a symbol of the vision that Serbia is trying to achieve, and that is to be a modern, developed country, connected with its neighbours and a future member of the EU.
Mihajlovic, along with EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc, Prime Minister of Vojvodina Igor Mirovic and Novi Sad Mayor Milos Vucevic, crossed the Zezelj Bridge with the first train and visited the construction site where the final works are taking placing before opening the bridge for traffic in early April.
Serbia sees itself as a central state of the Western Balkans, which wants to be better connected with its neighbours and on the path to the EU, Mihajlovic stated.
EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc said that Serbia fulfilled all that has been agreed, noting that this bridge does not only connect two river banks, but is also a symbol of connection with the EU.
