Dacic pointed out that this decision is contrary to the principles for which the Comoros are fighting when their territorial integrity is concerned, and that Serbia and this island nation are bound by friendly relations from the time of the former Yugoslavia and President Tito.
He stressed that Serbia is a friend of the Comoros and that Serbia supports the territorial integrity of the Comoros. We also voted for all resolutions in the UN General Assembly concerning the territorial integrity of the Comoros and we will continue to do so.
The First Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that our country has similar problems with its territorial integrity, because that was the case of unilateral separatism, a secession of a part of its territory, "which was supported by some Western countries that have double standards when our region is concerned".
Dacic recalled that Yugoslavia and Tito supported the struggle of the Comoros for independence and pointed out that Yugoslavia established diplomatic relations with this island nation in 1976, immediately after it gained independence.
Dacic said that during his visit he also discussed the signing of a friendship agreement between the two countries, as well as agreements on economic, cultural, educational cooperation, and on mutual visa abolition and tourism development.
The First Deputy Prime Minister said that he expects his counterpart to visit Serbia, and that the two presidents will also meet, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
