Serbia-Russia strategic partnership confirmed

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted today that the two countries have broad matching of positions on most international issues.

After the meeting of the Serbian and Russian delegations at the Palace of Serbia, Dacic emphasised that the official position of our country is that it is satisfied with the level of cooperation with Russia, which is not just on paper, but truly represents a meaningful and strategic partnership.

He expressed his gratitude to Russia for its continued support when it comes to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, since it is well known that the country vetoed an attempt to accuse the Serbian people of genocide, and there is also understanding for our position when it comes to unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo.

According to Dacic, the commodity exchange with Russia amounts to $2.5 billion, with two countries jointly implementing many projects.

Lavrov said that the views on international relations were considered in detail at today's meeting, and it was concluded that the two countries have a common opinion that the Serbian-Russian Intergovernmental Committee, co-chaired by Dacic and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Rogozin plays a very important role.
