United States should respect legitimate interests of Serbia

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic spoke in Washington with new Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell.
The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs is the first Serbian official to talk to this senior US administration official.
After the meeting, Dacic said that the talks were very complex and that their focus was on finding a common interest between the United States and Serbia.
Bearing in mind the friendship that has lasted over centuries and the long tradition of diplomatic relations, I insisted on how to find the minimum of common interests, if we cannot find the maximum, in order to jointly contribute to the stability of our region, Dacic pointed out.
In that sense, the meeting with Mitchell was of great importance, the First Deputy Prime Minister noted and voiced hope that he will visit Serbia next year. Serbia has a constructive approach, it wants to contribute to the stability of the region, but wants its interests to be respected too and to achieve a just and lasting solution for all problems in the region, especially for the issue of Kosovo-Metohija, Dacic concluded.
