Central role of Serbia in preserving regional stability

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with member of the Committe on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces of the French Senate Senator Olivier Cadic and pointed out the necessity of strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The two officials agreed that it is necessary to preserve the memory of the historical friendship between the Serbian and French peoples, which dates back to the First World War, as this is the basis for the further strengthening of bilateral relations.

Dacic expressed his gratitude to France for supporting Serbia's European integration, and stressed that bilateral relations in all segments, especially on the economic level, should be intensified in the coming period.

He expressed the hope that the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Serbia will take place next year.

Senator Cadic emphasized that the goal of his visit to Belgrade is to transfer his strong support to the EU accession process of Serbia, and in this context, he especially pointed out that our country has made significant economic progress and plays a central role in preserving the stability of the entire region.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with Serbia's decision to become a full member of the International Francophonie Organisation, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
