On that occasion, Dacic congratulated Audrey Azoulay on her nomination for the post of general manager of UNESCO and expressed his hope that the successful cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and UNESCO will continue in the future.
He expressed the belief that Odri Azule, having a rich professional experience in the field of culture and information at the national and international level, will be able to find a solution to the numerous challenges that UNESCO faces in the past few years.
In this context, Dacic pointed out that consideration of a possible application for Kosovo's accession to UNESCO at one of the future meetings of the Executive Council or the General Conference of UNESCO significantly affected the division of the organisation and further politicisation of its work.
Azoulay expressed her conviction that the cooperation between the UNESCO and the Republic of Serbia in the forthcoming period will continue to develop through programmes and projects jointly organised by UNESCO and institutions and organizations in our country.
She confirmed that she would make maximum efforts in the direction of depoliticising the organisation and returning the focus of work to the original principles, and that she would try to base her work on the principles of professionalism and impartiality, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
