International cooperation in fighting against all kinds of crime

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic met today in Belgrade with Deputy Secretary General for Common Security and Defence Policy and Crisis Management in the EU's Foreign Policy Service Pedro Serrano.

Referring to the results of Serbia in the fight against terrorism, Stefanovic reminded that our country adopted the first National Strategy and the following Action Plan for the Prevention and Fight against Terrorism, which is the basis for creating Serbia's policy in this field.

Within the Criminal Code, two new crimes related to UN Security Council Resolution 2178 on foreign terrorist fighters have been introduced, the Permanent Mixed Working Group at the Government level has been established, where all issues related to terrorist threats are discussed, he said.

The Ministry of the Interior also takes part in the work of Europol in the field of the fight against terrorism, where the volume of cooperation and the number of exchanged information are significantly increased each year, Stefanovic explained.

Serrano emphasised the commitment of Serbia and the Interior Ministry to the management of the migrant crisis, adding that our country, by the degree of cooperation in the field of the fight against organised crime and terrorism, is already part of the European Union.
