First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic and Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations and Head of UNMIK Zahir Tanin discussed today the current political and security situation in Kosovo- Metohija, the perspective of Belgrade's dialogue and Pristina and the functioning of UNMIK.

They emphasised the importance of further unreduced engagement of this mission in the areas vital for the survival, normal and dignified life of Serbs and members of other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo-Metohija.
In the context of attempts to change the format of the Security Council session on UNMIK's work, Dacic underlined that it is very important for Serbia and for stability in the region to continue, as before, with regular and transparent consideration of all the problems that exist in Kosovo-Metohija as long as UN Security Council Resolution 1244 is in force.
The First Deputy Prime Minister thanked Tanin for his gratitude for the efforts made to implement the mandate of UNMIK, with the expectation that the Mission will continue its implementation in the upcoming period in accordance with UNSC Resolution 1244.
Tanin is on a regular visit to Belgrade ahead of the upcoming UN Security Council session dedicated to the work of UNMIK, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
