Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Hoyt Brain Yee discussed today the continuation of reforms in the field of building permits, improvement of the business environment, as well as infrastructure projects which will connect Serbia with the region.
Hoyt Yee congratulated Mihajlovic on the successful reform of construction permits, which was crucial for the progress of Serbia on the World Bank's "Doing Business List".
It is noticeable that the conditions of business have been significantly improved, said Hoyt Yee, adding that the cooperation between the US Embassy in Belgrade and USAID with the government of Serbia and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure contributed to this.
Mihajlovic reminded that three years ago many did not believe that it is possible to issue building permits in Serbia electronically, and that now any investor can get the permit with "one click".
The next reform we are working on is the cadastre reform, she said, adding that this reform is as important as the reform of building permits.
The US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs also expressed interest in transport priorities, which will better connect Serbia with the region.
Mihajlovic repeated the invitation to US construction companies to participate in infrastructure projects in Serbia.
Today's meeting was also attended by US Ambassador to Serbia Kyle Scott, according to a statement from the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.
