At the conference "Western Security Architecture and Serbia – Challenges and Dilemmas" Dacic said that only through common answers can we reach solutions for the problems that Europe faces.
When it comes to Serbia's security policy, he stressed that military neutrality does not mean isolation or complacency, saying that in today's world such isolationism is outdated.
Dacic noted that the European Union today faces a crisis of identity and should always bear in mind that it was created as a peace and integration project.
We believe that the Union can continue to be a successful example to others, and therefore we are following with special care all initiatives initiated within the EU reform process, Dacic explained.
Serbia's relationship with NATO is delicate because of the legacy of the past, primarily bombing without the approval of the United Nations, said Dacic and stressed that Serbia, taking into account common interests, is participating in the Partnership for Peace programme.
He also underlined that Serbia is implementing a policy of military neutrality, which, as he added, means that it does not intend to be a member of NATO or any other military alliance.
Although we respect the different opinions in the region, our military neutrality is not an obstacle for the deepening of cooperation with NATO, he said.
When it comes to the European Union, Dacic stressed that without the Western Balkan region, guarantee of peace and stability on the continent will not be possible, which is why this part of Europe must be part of the European process.
