In addition to successful meetings in Hanoi, Dacic visited Ho Chi Minh, former Saigon, last night where he talked with representatives of the Serbian diaspora.
In agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, the Republic of Serbia will open the Consulate General led by Honorary Consul Dragan Mladenovic in Ho Chi Minh.
Dacic said that very successful Serbian businessmen, people dealing with public affairs and sports are doing business in Ho Chi Minh.
He said that he had the opportunity to talk with the Serbian businessmen, adding that they discussed how to make better connections, as well as how to achieve what we agreed at the meetings in Hanoi with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister of Vietnam.
The First Deputy Prime Minister announced that a thematic meeting with Serbian and Vietnamese businessmen will be organised in the upcoming period, given that the foreign trade of the two countries is not as high as it could be.
He expressed his expectation that, by the end of the year, besides the abolition of visas between our two countries, our general consulate in Ho Chi Minh will be opened.
He said that in the past twenty years, Serbia has unjustifiably neglected ties with Vietnam, a country that is 13th in the world by the number of people, i.e., about 100 million.
Serbia is a very important economic and political partner to Vietnam, especially since we expect Vietnam's support for Kosovo-Metohija, Dacic said.
