Continuation of dialogue with Pristina priority

First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said today after meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that Belgrade wants to continue the dialogue with Pristina in order to achieve a compromise solution.

Dacic told journalists that he talked with Guterres about Kosovo-Metohija but also on other important topics, stressing that Guterres accepted to come to Belgrade on the occasion of opening the UN House, in which the entire UN team will be located by the decision of the government of the Republic of Serbia.

We agreed that our soldiers and officers continue to participate in United Nations peacekeeping missions all over the world, he said.

We also asked that prisoners Serbian citizens who were convicted before the Hague tribunal serve their sentence in our country, taking into account the inhumane conditions they have, in particular Estonia, he emphasised.

The UN Secretary General announced that he will talk with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on regional stability next week, which is another confirmation of the great importance that the United Nations attach to mutual relations with Serbia, Dacic said.

He assessed that yesterday's session of the UN Security Council, dedicated to the work of UNMIK in the last three months, was very turbulent, but very important to us, because we repeated that Pristina does not fulfill what its task is based on Resolution 1244 and on the basis of the Brussels dialogue, and that Pristina does not implement the Brussels dialogue.
