First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic met today with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and UNMIK Chief Zahir Tanin as part of his regular visit to Belgrade ahead of the upcoming UN Security Council session dedicated to the work of UNMIK.

The officials discussed assessments of the current political and security situation in Kosovo-Metohija, the perspective of Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and the work of UNMIK.
The officials emphasised the importance of further uninterrupted engagement of this mission in areas vital for the survival, normal and dignified life of Serbs and members of other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo.
Dacic expressed his gratitude for the efforts made regarding exercise of the mandate of UNMIK, with the expectation that the Mission will continue this in the upcoming period in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
