Corridor 11 strategically important for Serbia’s development

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic spoke today with representatives of "Shandong High-Spid Group" and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Manchang about the works on the construction of two sections of Corridor 11.

The sections in question are one from Obrenovac to Ub and the other from Lajkovac to Ljig, in the total length of 50.2 kilometres.

Mihajlovic underlined that Corridor 11 is strategically important for Serbia and that Serbia is ready to help in every way that the project worth more than $300 million be completed on time, including the taking of all measures stipulated by the contract.

We expect the main contractor to pay more attention to the control and selection of sub-contractors and to use the construction season which is in full swing to the maximum, she stressed.

She pointed out that the value of joint projects of Serbia and China in the area of infrastructure, planned and current ones, exceeds €5 billion, and pointed out that the experiences with almost all Chinese companies are very good.

Manchang said that the government of China and the Embassy of China in Serbia are closely monitoring the work on Corridor 11 conducted by Chinese companies, and added that Shandong company intends to further develop its business activities in Serbia.

I expect both sides to do everything to complete the job within the time agreed and to meet the quality standards, given that the investment is the result of an agreement between our two countries and two governments, the Ambassador of China concluded.
