During the meeting, Mihajlovic presented projects in road and rail transport, and stressed that priorities of the Ministry are the acceleration of infrastructure development, completion of road Corridor 10 and continuation of modernisation and rehabilitation of Serbian railways, in which the World Bank is also taking part.
The team I am leading has managed to start the process of changes in the Serbian railways and we have achieved good results, she stressed, adding that the goal is to invest in this area and continue with the necessary reforms at the same time.
Mihajlovic also presented the reform in road maintenance, pointing out that after 25 years a tender has been announced for the maintenance of the first 3,000 kilometres of roads, which is a major step forward in this area.
The competent ministry succeeded to provide electronic process of obtaining building permits, owing to which Serbia was placed ahead of 150 countries on the World Bank's "Doing Business” list according to the criteria of issuing building permits.
Our aim is to also implement a reform of cadastre and reduce the waiting time for the registration of property into the land registry to three working days, Mihajlovic explained and added that these reforms improve Serbia’s rating on the “Doing Business“ list and the ultimate goal is that Serbia becomes one of the top 20 countries by the ease of doing business.
Gelder, who succeeded Ellen Goldstein, congratulated Mihajlovic on the reforms implemented, but also on the progress that Serbia has made on “Doing Business“ list since a special working group was formed for that purpose, led by Mihajlovic.
