Connecting Belgrade, Budapest to ports in Greece

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said today in Budapest that Serbia, China and Hungary agreed to start talks as soon as possible on the modernisation of the transport corridor to the Greek port of Piraeus.
After the trilateral meeting of China, Hungary and Serbia dedicated to the reconstruction and modernisation of the Belgrade-Budapest railway, Mihajlovic explained that these will be primarily talks with the Republic of Macedonia and Greece on the modernisation of the entire railway line to the port of Piraeus.
The next trilateral meeting will be held in Beijing in January, and until then works will be done on the beginning of reconstruction of the Belgrade-Budapest railway, but also on preparations for connecting Belgrade and Budapest with Greece. Mihajlovic pointed out that the Serbian side is ready to start this summer with the modernisation of the railway at which the speed will be 200 kilometres per hour.
Until now Serbia has done all that was necessary as a precondition. The Hungarian side is making a little bit slower progress, while the Serbian side goes a few steps ahead, she stated.
