Good cooperation of Interior Ministry with UN agencies

Belgrade, 12 May 2017

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic spoke today with the Resident Coordinator of the team of the United Nations and Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Serbia Karla Robin Hershey about the joint activities that will be carried out in the future.

Stefanovic commented on good and comprehensive cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior and UN agencies, and emphasized the action of legalization of weapons and destruction of the surrendered and seized weapons, which has been carried out successfully for many years in cooperation with the UNDP.

The United Nations helped the Ministry of the Interior to respond to the challenges of the migrant crisis, and they sent aid to Serbia in a timely manner after the catastrophic floods that hit our country three years ago.

Hershey stressed that she highly appreciates the contribution of the Ministry of the Interior to the international peacekeeping missions in the world and highlighted the readiness of the United Nations to assist our Ministry in building and strengthening a secure society.
