The two officials agreed that the level of bilateral relations is high, which are characterised by intensive political dialogue, very developed economic cooperation and a large presence of Italian investments in Serbia.
Dacic and Alfano noted that a joint session of the governments of Serbia and Italy should be held by the end of the year and both sides expressed interest in continuing the trilateral cooperation at the level of foreign ministers of Serbia, Italy and Albania.
During the meeting, a special attention was paid to the current Italian presidency of the Berlin process and the preparations for the Summit EU - Western Balkans, which will be held on 12 July in Trieste.
Dacic expressed special gratitude to Italy for its continued support to Serbia on its path towards the EU, and stressed the importance of the commitment with which Italy treats the region of Southeast Europe, as evidenced by its active work on its position of this year’s chair of the Berlin process.
Alfano underlined that Italy will continue to continue to support Serbia on its European path, because it is a place that naturally belongs to Serbia.
He praised the reforms and results achieved by Serbia in the European integration process.
Alfano invited the First Deputy Prime Minister to make a return visit to Italy.
Dacic and Alfano signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy in the field of work of bilingual Serbian-Italian classes in Serbia.
Both sides agreed that the signing of this bilateral document marked another important step forward in the field of cultural and educational cooperation between Italy and Serbia, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
