First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with Minister for International Development and the Pacific and Australian Senator Conchetta Fierravanti-Wells, who is on a visit to the Republic of Serbia.
The two officials discussed the possibilities for the improvement of overall cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of the economy, culture and education, and pointed to the need for further strengthening of the existing cooperation.
Dacic and the Australian Senator agreed that the Serbian community in Australia is one of the important factors in relations between Serbia and Australia.
Fierravanti-Wells highlighted the importance which Australia attaches to human rights at the national and international levels and presented the candidacy of Australia for the United Nations Council for Human Rights for the period from 2018 to 2020, noting that Australia has not been a member of this body of the UN so far, according to a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
