Bologa congratulated Mihajlovic on the successful implementation of the gender equality policy in Serbia and expressed readiness of the UNFPA to provide support, especially in the areas of protection of reproductive health of women, combating gender-based violence and youth employment.
The officials agree on the fact that the improvement of population policy in Serbia is one of the priorities in the coming period, and that it is necessary to conduct a serious analysis of the situation with regard to demographic trends in society.
The demographic problem is a long standing problem. We have formed a body that will deal with this issue and the support of the UNFPA in the form of providing expertise is of great importance, said Mihajlovic.
It was agreed that the Coordination Body will provide assistance in the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures for the prevention and protection of refugees and migrants from gender-based violence, and the same principles may be applicable in other cases of violence against women.
Mihajlovic emphasised the importance of passing the law on gender equality, implementation of the Action Plan and IPA projects.
