Speaking at a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, held after the signing of the Memorandum between the two ministries on the establishment of political consultation on issues of common interest, Dacic pointed out that our country is committed to cooperation with Qatar in all areas.
The areas of interest are agriculture, IT industry, health care, health tourism, energy and military industry.
The First Deputy Prime Minister said that conditions have been created for the formation of a mixed committee and that it would be good if representatives of the Qatar Investment Fund came to Serbia to get acquainted with our projects.
Dacic said that the Qatar Investment Fund has assets worth $170 billion, and that this country has the world's highest income per capita which amounts to $140,000 annually.
He expressed the expectation that it will be big steps ahead in foreign trade between the two countries, which now stands at between seven and eight million dollars, which, he says, is modest.
Dacic said that he spoke with Al-Thani about improvement of the visa system too.
Al-Thani expressed gratitude on the friendly reception and said that today’s visit is very important for strengthening cooperation between the two states and underlined that there is great potential for the development of relations that are just starting.
Qatar, he said, plans to send delegations from various fields, such as IT, agriculture and defence in order to improve cooperation with Serbia.
