At the meeting held on the sidelines of
the Summit of the Francophonie in Antananarivo, the Prime Minister of Mauritius informed Dacic in detail about a longstanding territorial problem that this country has with the Chagos Islands and the attempt to resolve this issue through the UN system.
He asked for the support of Serbia on this matter, which would confirm the respect of international law, and during the meeting he also stressed the need to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy, tourism and education.
Dacic expressed gratitude for the support of Mauritius to Serbia's territorial integrity and non-recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo.
Serbia fully shares the assessment of Mauritius on the need to respect international law and condemn double standards, he said and added that our country is ready to promote bilateral cooperation within international organisations, especially the UN.
The First Deputy Prime Minister said that Serbia appreciates the model of Mauritius for attracting foreign investment and the results that have been achieved on this point.
In the coming period the scholarship programme for students from Mauritius is expected to continue, which is in line with the long tradition, as well as the exchange of high level visits, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
