Boosting strategic partnership with China

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated today that Serbia is committed to improving regional cooperation and that it highlights on all occasions the need to maintain regional stability as a precondition for economic prosperity of the countries of the Western Balkans.

Speaking at the international conference "One Belt, One Road – Balkan Perspective", Dacic said that the vision which is offered by the document "Vision and activities of the joint building of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road for the 21st century", is useful and acceptable for the Republic of Serbia.

That project has great development potential, he said, especially in the field of development of infrastructure, increase of investments and overall trade.

The Minister recalled that the Memorandum of understanding on the improvement of joint development of the Silk Road Economic Belt between the Serbian government and the Chinese government was signed during the visit of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to the People’s Republic of China on 23-27 November 2015.

The Memorandum of understanding on the Information Silk Road was signed during the historic visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Belgrade in June this year.

Dacic noted that during the past five years, since when this mechanism has existed, it not only justified the reasons for its establishment and existence, but it opened important new horizons and many areas of cooperation.
