First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic received today Portuguese Ambassador to Serbia Augusto Jose Pestana Saraiva Peixoto, Serbian Ambassador to Portugal Oliver Antic and Director of the Serbian Archives Miroslav Perisic.
Ambassador Peixoto handed over to Dacic a letter of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal Augusto Santos Silva in which he congratulates him on the re-election on the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs and invites him to visit Portugal soon.
Dacic handed over to Director of the Serbian Archives Miroslav Perisic scanned archives of correspondence between the two countries which Ambassador Antic found in the Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
Among the documents, there is a letter from Serbian King Milan Obrenovic written in French that he sent to the then King of Portugal and the Algarve on 10 March 1882, which marks the beginning of bilateral relations between Serbia and Portugal.
Both sides agreed that bilateral political relations are excellent and that there are possibilities for improvement of all forms of cooperation, especially economic.
Dacic expressed gratitude to Portugal on its strong support to Serbia on its path of European integration, reads a statement by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
