First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic will lead a delegation of the Republic of Serbia at the 17th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, to be held in Venezuela, on the island of Margarita, on 17-18 September.
Dacic will also participate in the meeting of foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement on 15-16 September.
In his speech at the summit, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs will present the vision of the Republic of Serbia regarding the activities and the role of the movement and the issues of priority importance for the Republic of Serbia, with a focus on Kosovo-Metohija.
On the sidelines of the summit, Dacic will hold bilateral meetings with officials from the member states of the movement.
Serbia has observer status in this organisation, and the Non-Aligned Movement is one of the largest international movements which brings together 120 member states and 17 observers.
For Serbia the Non-Aligned Movement is very important because out of the 86 countries that have not recognised Kosovo, 61 are members of the Non-Aligned Movement.
A key reason for the participation of the Serbian delegation in the summit, headed by Minister Dacic, is to parry pressures and lobbying from the world for the independence of Kosovo, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
