Chaloka Beyani and Ivica Dacic

Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Dacic voiced satisfaction over the fact that Beyani is interested in resolving the issue of internally displaced persons from our southern province, taking into account his previous visit to Serbia in 2013.
He pointed out that, unfortunately, due to the lack of basic conditions for the sustainable return of returnees to the province, the number of returnees is still very low, to which Serbia regularly points at the sessions of the UN Security Council dedicated to the work of UNMIK.
The competent institutions in Serbia, in the current situation of the migrant refugee crisis, and in resolving the issue of refugees in the region, have been investing extraordinary efforts for years to provide all forms of assistance to persons from Kosovo-Metohija in the long-term internal displacement, including housing for those who choose to integrate, Dacic stated.
The First Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted the importance that Serbia attaches to the United Nations, and welcomed cooperation with agencies of this organisation in Serbia, with whom we continue to work together on solving issues of internal displacement.
Beyani has confirmed that there is a need to create conditions for durable solutions for internally displaced persons, including the return and integration.
