According to a statement by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, at today's meeting, the fifth in a row, further progress has been achieved in the implementation of the project of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed rail.
Technical working groups of all three countries have worked on reaching agreement regarding the technical and technological issues related to the high-speed railway lines, since this line will be designed for speeds of 200 kilometres per hour.
The preliminary design of the railway from Belgrade to Stara Pazova should be completed by the end of September, and it was agreed that talks on the finalisation of the commercial contract should be resumed in October.
Representatives of China, Hungary and Serbia have expressed confidence that the agreements that are necessary to start the construction of the railway to Budapest will be signed at the Summit of 16 countries of Southeast Europe and China, which will be held in Riga, with the presence of prime ministers of all three countries.
At today’s meeting it was also agreed that the next meeting of the Trilateral group be held in Budapest.
The delegation of China was led by Deputy Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission Wang Xiaotao, and the delegation of Hungary by the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Commissioner for bilateral relations with China Peter Szijjarto.
