Condemnation of attempts to revise history

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic and Director of the "Simon Wiesenthal" Centre Efraim Zuroff condemned today the attempt to revise the history of World War II, which is manifested in Croatia by its current attitude towards Stepinac, Budak and Baresic.

During today's meeting, Dacic and Zuroff also condemned the attempt to revise the history of World War II at the European level too and by some members of the OSCE, as well as effort to erase any difference between fascism and communism. Zuroff underlined that the construction of the Holocaust Memorial Centre "Staro Sajmiste" has national, regional and global importance for Serbia because it will raise awareness not only of the Jewish victims, but above all of the Serbian and Roma victims in the region during the Second World War, which is less known in the world.

Dacic referred to the adoption of the Law on restitution of property of the Holocaust victims without living successors, and to his planned meeting with representatives of the World Jewish Congress on the sidelines of the upcoming 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, as an illustration of the relationship of Serbia towards the Jews and Israel.

In this context, on the occasion of yesterday's incident at the "Nikola Tesla" Airport, he said that he felt the need to reaffirm to Zuroff the views and positions of the Republic of Serbia towards Israel that are well-known.
