Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic spoke today with Head of the World Bank Office in Serbia Tony Verheijen about further steps in the reforming of Serbian railway companies.
Mihajlovic stated on the occasion that the Serbian government takes care about the employees in railway companies and underlined that all workers who will leave will have a social welfare programme and severance packages.
We are getting close to an agreement on the amount of severance packages and the type of social welfare programme that will be offered to employees, but our main goal is that those packages and programmes are acceptable for them and in line with legal provisions and financial possibilities, she said.
Verheijen stated that the World Bank is aware that Serbia has worked a lot on the restructuring of the Serbian Railways and pointed out that there are many new projects that need to be implemented.
