First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic confirmed today that the intergovernmental conference, at which chapters 23 and 24 will be opened, is scheduled for 18 July at Brussels, and that the Serbian delegation will be probably led by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
Speaking at a joint press conference with European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister, Dacic said that Serbia and Croatia reached an agreement in Paris on how to continue to address bilateral issues, in an attempt to look into the future and seek common ground.
The interest of Serbia is to try to live for the future, because the past cannot be lived, said the First Deputy Prime Minister and announced that he will meet tomorrow with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia Miro Kovac, who will visit Subotica.
McAllister said that the upcoming opening of Chapters 23 and 24 in Serbia's EU accession talks is deserved.
He recalled that the opening of a chapter requires coordination of all EU member states, which sometimes takes a little more time than expected, but also expressed his conviction that Serbia will continue to open other chapters.
At the same time, McAllister said that normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, which is part of the process of Serbia's accession to the EU, does not mean official recognition of Kosovo’s independence.
