Decision of EU not to open chapters 23, 24 unacceptable

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said today he is shocked by the EU’s decision not to open negotiating chapters 23 and 24 with Serbia and to open new negotiating chapters with Turkey and Montenegro.

Dacic said that the decision is shameful, incomprehensible and humiliating for Serbia, and that is the result of political intentions to stop or slow down Serbia's European path. It is an open political pressure on Serbia to give up its clear policy of protection of its state interests.
He emphasised that Serbia has fulfilled all that was required in the process of negotiating with the EU, noting that our country is key to regional stability and is making great efforts in reforms that will create a modern European country.
Therefore, the EU should stop tragicomic explanations that we are blocked by Croatia and Great Britain, the Minister added stressing that Serbia is blocked by the EU, and that no one can convince him that the whole of the EU is not more influential than Croatia.
After all, if Croatia, as a country that committed genocide against Serbs in the fascist Ustasha Independent State of Croatia, where the fascist salute is still present, and a country that has expelled more than 200 thousand Serbs in Operation Storm, carrying out ethnic cleansing, will be the one that will be a criterion to join the EU, then we should raise the question whether we are going in the right direction, said Dacic.
He added that this EU decision is unacceptable for Serbia and proposed to Prime Minister Vucic to hold urgent consultations on further actions in the area of foreign policy on the eve of the Paris summit on 4 July.
