Germany’s support important for European path of Serbia

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic and Deputy Director of the Department for European Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Peter Ptassek agreed today that bilateral relations between the two countries are good and they expressed their willingness for their further improvement.

During the meeting, Dacic briefed Ptassek about the situation in connection with the opening of Chapter 23, which relates to the judiciary, fight against corruption and fundamental rights.
He also stressed the importance of continued progress in the negotiating process on Serbia's membership in the EU, as well as the importance of the support that Germany has provided in that process.
Ptassek, who is also commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany for the basic issues of the EU, common policy and strategic coordination, agreed with the assessment that the bilateral relations between Serbia and Germany are good.
He reiterated that Germany supports Serbia's European integration, and said that his country will continue to provide help and support to Serbia in the negotiation process.
He also stressed the importance of continued progress in the negotiating process on Serbia's membership in the EU, as well as the importance of the support that Germany has provided in that process.
