Reliable signs of recovery of Serbian construction industry

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said today that the construction industry in the last year achieved extraordinary results and contributed to increasing GDP by 1.8%.
Opening the 42nd International Construction Trade Fair in Belgrade Fair, she said that during the past year, the value of construction works increased by more than 25%.
Serbia improved environment for investments by accelerating the issuance of construction permits, she said noting that the number of permits issued since March 2015 to the end of that year was 29% higher than the average in the previous seven years.
Since 1 January this year Serbia began issuing electronic building permits within 28 days, Mihajlovic said, adding that the number of injuries at work reduced, and black and white lists in the construction industry were introduced.
She stated that at the fair is attended by more than 500 exhibitors, of which two-thirds are domestic companies.
Mihajlovic added that this is one of the largest construction trade show in Southeast Europe, and expressed the hope that next year there will be even more exhibitors.
This event is held this year under the slogan "The right decision at the right time".
