Improvement of economic relations of Serbia, United States

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic spoke today with Executive Director for European and Eurasian Affairs at the US Department of Commerce Skip Jones about the improvement of overall economic relations between the two countries.
Ljajic underlined that the bilateral cooperation in the field of telecommunications is getting better, and gave as an example the project of introduction of wireless Internet in all primary and secondary schools in Serbia, as well as the networking of schools into a single information system, which should soon be implemented by the Serbian government and US Company "Cisco".
Ljajic and Jones expressed expectation that the signing of an interstate agreement on encouragement and protection of investments, whose harmonisation is underway, will be a good step towards improving business climate between the two countries.
Jones said that the business community of his country sees a great opportunity for expanding economic cooperation with Serbia in the fields of IT, automotive industry, pharmaceutical industry, energy and infrastructure.
According to him, these are the industries in which trade between the two countries can be growing continuously in the future.
