A:

Brazilian government will not change its stance on Kosovo

Belgrade, 16 March 2016

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs wished welcome today to newly-appointed Ambassador of Brazil to Serbia Isabela Cristina de Azevedo Heyvaert and stated that relations of the two countries are characterised by a high level of mutual understanding.

During the meeting, Dacic pointed out that Serbia attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Brazil, as its most important political and economic partner in Latin America, with whom our country does not have any open issues.

He thanked Brazil for its full support to Serbia on the issue of Kosovo-Metohija, which it recently confirmed by voting against the admission of the so-called Kosovo to UNESCO.

Heyvaert voiced hope that the positive trend of cooperation will continue and expressed her belief that the Brazilian government will not change its stance regarding the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.
