Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic today wished welcome and success in diplomatic work to newly-appointed Apostolic Nuncio of the Holy See in Belgrade Luciano Suriani and expressed conviction that he will contribute to strengthening the good and stable bilateral relations of Serbia and the Holy See.
Vucic thanked the Apostolic Nuncio on the principled position of the Holy See not to recognise the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo.
He expressed the desire to celebrate Easter according to the Gregorian calendar with Suriani and Catholic believers in Serbia, and they agreed to participate together in the Holy Mass on 27 March.
Suriani stated that he had come to Serbia with the desire to contribute to the welfare of the country and the people and conveyed regards from Pope Francis to Prime Minister Vucic.
He commended the commitment of Aleksandar Vucic to reconciliation and improvement of relations in the Western Balkans.
