Ambassador Kirby said that the public administration is the backbone of the state, without which other processes cannot function.
Udovicki pointed out that structure and organisation of work are a bigger problem rather than the number of employees.
We must change the way we work, the way in which we conduct business and ensure that everyone is responsible for their job – that is the only way to ensure better governance for our citizens, said Udovicki.
The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the US Ambassador for support to public administration reform, in particular through cooperation with the Mission of USAID, which is most reflected in the preparation and enforcement of the Law on inspection.
She pointed out that inspection services must be improved in terms of capacity and equipment.
The officials agreed that inspection services should act preventively rather than repressively.
Kirby, who ends his diplomatic mandate in Serbia, said that he loves Serbia and and that public administration reform is what Serbia particularly needs.
Also, the US Ambassador said it is very important for Serbia to be committed to EU membership, which will further help to create a stable and regulated system, according to a statement from the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.
