Selakovic and Boillat discussed the new project "Justice on the grounds of human rights", which aims to support the Serbian judiciary in the further implementation of the action plan for judicial reform in the period from 2013 to 2018, and to encourage judicial bodies to have human rights incorporated into every decision.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to Boillat for a great support and assistance of the Council of Europe when the Law on the protection of whistleblowers was drafted, and said that the Ministry of Justice received positive reviews of the text of the Law on the protection of the right to trial within a reasonable period, which began to be force on 1 January this year.
He pointed out that this bill represents the judicial protection of human rights and contributes to the improvement of human rights in Serbia.
Boillat pointed out that Serbia has made significant progress in judicial reform and improving the justice system, and added that the Council of Europe will provide all the expert support to Serbia in those areas where it deems that help and support is needed.
Selakovic and Boillat assessed that for consistent respect for human rights, legal predictability is needed, which implies the existence of one court of appeal and its branches, according to a statement by the Ministry of Justice.
